Tuberculosis (TB) Day is observed annually on March 24th in India and around the world to raise awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease.
The day is an opportunity to educate the public about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of tuberculosis, as well as to mobilize political and social commitment for the eradication of the disease.
In India, TB is a major public health challenge, with over 2.69 million cases reported in 2019. The Indian government has implemented various initiatives to combat the spread of TB, including the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP), which offer free diagnosis and treatment for TB.
TB Day is also a time to recognize the efforts of healthcare workers, researchers, and organizations working to eliminate tuberculosis, and to advocate for increased funding and resources to support their work.
