Martyrs Day or Shaheed Diwas

In India, March 23rd is celebrated as Martyrs' Day in memory of the brave Indian freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence. This day is also known as Shaheed Diwas.

On March 23, 1931, three great Indian freedom fighters, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru, were hanged to death by the British colonial authorities for their involvement in the Lahore conspiracy case. These three revolutionaries had played a significant role in India's independence struggle and had become an inspiration for the youth of the country.

To honor their sacrifice and contribution towards India's freedom, March 23rd is observed as Martyrs' Day in India. It is a day to pay tribute to all the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom struggle. On this day, the Indian President, Prime Minister, and other political leaders pay homage to the martyrs at the Martyrs' Memorial at the Parliament House in New Delhi.
